Personal Reflections

EDIT 575 Authorware

I took Macromedia Authorware over winter break in January 2005. This class was taught by Ken Gray in two weeks.  Ken did an excellent job of breaking down the components of the program and give us assignments that lead up to our final project. This program is very powerful. I already had a basic web design and graphic background but this program was the first time I felt I could walk out and create computer-based training materials on my own. My final project was an Introduction to Clogging.

In this class I also learned how to edit sound and movie clips. Because the class was so short I had to implement my project management skills to balance the classwork, homework and my work schedule. I think this is a great class for students in the ID&D program to take to excel as a developer. Even if someone plans on being a content developer they should take this class to learn how the technical person will put courses together. Many times the way a document is written in print is different than how it will appear in an interactive tutorial. Authorware was not a difficult program to learn and it will give a designer the knowledge to think about how text will appear on screen rather than just in print.
